ABOUT USĪIM is part of a successful group of companies, which first began in Norfolk, Virginia, in 1969. After graduating, students would be able to work on wind turbines, roller coasters, drones and many other types of aircraft and passenger transit. So our students come out of the program with the mindset of, “If it is not 100% safe, I’m not signing off on it.” Because of this, A&P mechanics work in a variety of industries where passenger safety is important. Think about it, the safety standards our students learn is of the upmost importance when dealing with passengers flying 500mph, 30,000 feet above the ground. The world of aviation is vast, but getting your Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License is just the beginning. This training prepares you to pass the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) test to become a certified Airframe and Powerplant Technician for employment in aviation maintenance. This program is designed to provide you with the knowledge and skills to excel as an aircraft mechanic. The AIM - Las Vegas campus offers training in the Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT) aviation career field. At the Aviation Institute of Maintenance (AIM), we train Airframe (structure) and Powerplant (engine) Technicians. New diagnostic software, bigger engines and lighter and stronger airframes offer a career opportunity that is not only in demand but one that will be around for years to come. This calls for maintenance technicians to be able to work on older aircraft and new alike. Both pilot and aircraft technician positions will be needed worldwide.Īirlines are upgrading technology on the ground and in the air. According to the Boeing’s 2014 Current Market Outlook, the need for aircraft technicians will reflect the growing need for aircraft in the world. As technology gets better, aircraft can fly faster and longer distances, making the need for aircraft mechanics grow extensively. * Weight & Balance Handbook (FAA-H-8083-1B) ( PDF, 14.The aviation industry is continually growing.
